This afternoon I stumbled upon on the IDEO website. There is a section called 'Postcards' under the culture tab. It's digital snapshots from the field and here is a short description from the website,
At any given time, there are 15 to 20 IDEO teams in the field doing research for projects. We are a naturally curious bunch, and tend to collect quite a few artifacts from our trips. In addition to interesting foods, new turns of phrase, and the occasional non-contagious skin disease, we take photos of interesting things in the places we are.
When we see something remarkable, we capture it to show our fellow IDEOers at home in the studio. Now we are sharing some of our blink-worthy images with you. Enjoy!
I really like that they do this stuff. It brings their culture to life and shows a humane personality as a company and an endless curiosity with a great observation. Checkit out.
Last night, I was gratefully invited by my friend and fervently went to attend a special movie premier, called Ploy. Ploy is a Thai movie, directed by Thai well-know film director, Pen-ek Ratanaruang. Ploy is a highly detailed, erotic psychological drama in which a married couple and young girl are locked inside one hotel room. It starts with subtle suspicions and builds up to jealousy, as the appearance of a young woman triggers devastating consequences for a married couple. This movie acquires much public attention here and media and entertainment industry keep an eye on because it gotselected to show in Cannes Film Festival.I got some observations below.
1. I am wondering after the movie hits the public this Thursday, how many girls will go to change their hair like this young girl (curly hair)?(I saw her in person, she is cute) I truly believe that some girls will set the trend. 2. Ploy movie is very artsy. The consequence is the majority of Thai people may not like it because it can be difficult to understand which leads to the compliments on the goodness of film from people in the industry, but not money from the mainstream. As we know it, Thai people are not that complicated although they are emotionally but they want to consume entertainment in a simple way. (That's why action and comedy are their favorites)
3. My favorite quote is A young girl : Can marriage be expired? A husband : Yes. A young girl : Like a canned food? A husband : sort of, canned food has expiration date printed at the bottom but marriage has not, it just expires.
When people gets older, a collagen production gets lower which leads to a droopy or flabby skin. Some believe that adding collagen into a body will regain the firmness of the skin. And there are 2 ways in adding collagen - injecting and eating. The collagen has been aware by Thai consumers for 3-4 years. At that time, we have been tricked from Skincare products by adding collagen ingredient which is beauty related.
Recently, the parade of collagen attacks us. Wherever i go, i see the collagen in orange juice, soy milk, sport drink, milk, and supplement. I am quite sick of it. Is it rare to find the trustworthy and genuine brand in Thailand, huh?
While many people rejoicing in digital world and easily getting in touch via MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Flickr, and etc.. you name it. These things create another form of relationship among friends, family, colleagues, and people. It's like we got 2 worlds in living - offline and online.
We have been bombarded by the happenings or events in online world while in offline world, there is an Cuddle party, a workshop/social-event that gives adults an opportunity to "give and receive welcomed affectionate touch in a no-expectation, friendly setting, according to your needs, desires, interests, and boundries." It is started from NY then spreading to Washington, Alabama, Boston, LA, San francisco, even in London and Sydney. Learning about intimacy, welcomed touch, and affection with some rules on puppy pile. I have no idea about how would i feel towards this event but it's kind of something that you will never get in online world besides touching a keyboard and an optical mouse.I spotted this cuddle party when i was watching CSI:New York DVD last night.
I think i never post about music but this is one to see. I really love this song - Read my mind by The killers. Also, the website and their video are cool, worth checking them out. (Trust me)
A Tattoo from a general perspective is an art while some people in some countries take it as a religious and magical reason. Look at Angelina Jolie's recent tattoos from Thailand by Ajarn Noo Kanphai, a famous religious-tattoo master. In Thailand, some believe that doing religious tattoo will help them protecting evils and dangers, enhancing career or living. The religious tattoo is not colorful as a typical tattoo.
I heard that Ajarn Noo just came back to Thailand from tattooing Madonna and Brad Pitt is appointing him to get one as well.

My favorite ramen is thin noodle with Shoyu soup. Ramen has been a japanese food culture and seen it in many forms such as vending machine, resturant, museum, kisok etc.
NY Times, USA today, Wall Street Journal, and etc have online edition. They have learned from their readers' online habits in turning their papers into digital vehicles. Our left hand holds a cup of coffee and right hand clings to an optical mouse, not a paper while some read an article from their favorite columnist via a cell phone. Bye Bye paperboy, start finding a new job - people don't drink milk online.
Some view it as an art while some view it as a rubbish. For me, i see it as a culture. Basically, people see the same thing but they have different thought because the variety of experience, background, morality, social status, and etc. you name it. Taking this photo reminded me of psychology class. The lecturer showed me this pic and gave us the psychological term which i can't remember what it was. It's kind of double meaning illusion. And i also saw the similar pics in consumer behavior class as well. (What do you see it first, duck or rabbit?)
